About the Role
The Police Aide will perform clerical duties in the day-to-day operations at Mountain View Precinct and provide the first point of contact for citizens as this position is assigned to the front desk.
Responsibilities
- Assisting internal and external customers
- Answering telephones
- Distributing mail, subpoenas, and other precinct paperwork
- Making deliveries and/or pickups to other bureaus
- Accurately entering information and data into police databases
- Maintaining precinct supplies and equipment
- Other various administrative duties as needed
Schedule
Tuesday - Saturday, 1200-2000 hours.
Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic computer operations and common productivity software, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools as needed
- Ability to multitask and work independently
Pay
Hiring Range: $16.80 to $20.42 per hour. Pay Range: $16.80 to $22.52 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to perform routine clerical work
- Six months of public contact or customer assistance experience
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
- Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions

- Processing subpoenas
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Staffing a reception desk and answering a multi-line telephone system
- Managing an inventory of office supplies
- Providing excellent internal and external customer service
- Performing general administrative duties
