Police Aide
This is a regular full-time, non-exempt position with benefits, working a 4/10 schedule that may include various shifts (days, swings, nights). The position is subject to a six-month probationary period. A four-week Police Aide Academy is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2027 for recruits hired through this recruitment process.

Who We Are Looking For
Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can perform the following duties:
- Educate the public on compliance in area of assignment
- Investigate minor accidents and misdemeanor criminal violations
- Write reports, complete forms, and issue civil citations
- Utilize manual and mechanical traffic direction devices
- Walk around and navigate traffic collision sites and crime scenes
- Transport impounded items of evidence from crime scenes
- Frequently enter, exit, and drive departmental vehicles
- Provide motorists assistance, such as changing tires and jumpstarting vehicles
- Work in extreme weather conditions, such as rain, heat, and cold
- Participate in training environments to increase personal protection and assault avoidance
- Willingly perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Must have 2 years of previous experience working in a public-facing position where customer service was essential; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
- Must be able to obtain a Level A Terminal Operator Certification from the Department of Public Safety within 6 months of hire
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
Desired Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a public safety or law enforcement setting
- Previous work experience with law enforcement records, records management software, and database programs

Supervision
Work is performed under the supervision of a division supervisor or manager. This position does not supervise others.
