Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic interviews.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications while monitoring patient progress and side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy and supportive counseling as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant electronic medical records (EMR documentation).
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and primary care providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical case reviews.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards of care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical and professional standards at all times.
Qualifications
- For PMHNP Candidates:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Active state RN and APRN licensure.
- DEA license and prescriptive authority required.
- For Physician Assistant Candidates:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- Active state PA licensure.
- DEA registration required.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2–3 years of psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred.
- Experience in outpatient psychiatry, inpatient behavioral health, addiction medicine, or community mental health settings highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychiatric treatment modalities.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations across adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups preferred.
