PM&R Physician - PRN

Job Summary

The Physician is responsible for administering and interpreting all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations within the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. This position will also educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments; may also conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient's healthcare provider.

Duties And Essential Job Functions

• Provide inpatient consults and outpatient management of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, spinal cord, TBI, amputee, or other disabling conditions.
• Perform electrodiagnostic testing, including EMG, nerve conduction studies, and ultrasound/neuro-sonography.
• Create and implement individualized rehabilitation treatment plans.
• Oversight and coordination of therapies including PT, OT, and speech therapy.
• Management and supervision of spasticity and dystonia, including Botox injections (baclofen pump management optional).
• Supervision and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows in the PM&R program.
• Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
• Educating patients and families on conditions, goals, and the rehabilitation process.
• Collaboration across disciplines to ensure holistic, patient-centered care.
• Participation in research, quality improvement, and educational initiatives within the department.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board-eligible or board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Valid, unrestricted Texas medical license and DEA certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a rehabilitation setting is highly preferred.
