About the role

We have an immediate career opportunity for a Customs Entry Agent. This position requires access to secured airport areas and involves ensuring compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported products.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations
  • Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with all government agency rules and regulations
  • Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and all government entries
  • Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes
  • Affixes Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility
  • Maintains open line of communication with Department of Foreign Affairs
  • Receives and distributes all incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence
  • Examines online commercial invoices and other documents to determine the correct Harmonized Tariff Code for each commodity to ensure correct classification
  • Applies knowledge of US Customs Regulations regarding Foreign Trade Agreements, and other duty exemptions
  • Ensures overtime is required
  • Has 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred
  • Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications
  • Needs good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice
  • Requires proficiency on a 10 key calculator

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
  • Experience in transportation or customs preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications
  • Good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice
  • Proficiency on a 10 key calculator

Skills

  • Detail oriented, organized, and possesses time management skills
  • Processes shipments through various online portals for submission to FDA and US Customs to obtain proper clearance
