About the role
The Facilities Management and Capital Planning department manages and maintains 62 state-owned courthouses and 42 leased facilities across ten counties. The department ensures safe and uninterrupted operations through effective property management, facility operations, and customer service.
Responsibilities
For Electrician: Tests, repairs, installs, and/or maintains electrical systems and equipment; troubleshoots electrical and related equipment; schedules and escorts contractors; cooperates with Facilities system personnel on electrical systems and power consumption.
For HVAC: Installs, repairs, alters, and maintains HVAC equipment and systems; troubleshoots HVAC equipment and systems; runs standard tests to determine whether finished work meets specifications; inspects facility to determine the need for maintenance and repair to HVAC equipment; schedules and escorts contractors; works with Engineering on efficiency and power consumption.
For Plumbing: Installs, repairs, and alters plumbing systems; reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, instructions, or layouts; schedules installation, maintenance, and/or repair work; runs standard tests to determine whether finished work meets specifications; establishes priorities and makes recommendations concerning work activities; requests motors, parts and equipment as needed; schedules and escorts contractors; cooperates with Facilities systems personnel on plumbing systems and efficiency.
Requirements
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Four (4) years of related work experience, which may include apprenticeship working toward a state license.
For Electrician: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts journeyman electrician’s license issued by the Board of State Examiners of Electricians.
For HVAC: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts refrigeration license.
For Plumbing: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts journeyman plumber’s license issued by the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters.

Benefits
This position is designated as a Union position. All new hires must start at the entry level rate for this role per the collective bargaining agreement/MOA with OPEIU, Local 6. Salary may advance within the salary band according to the CBA/MOU.
Pay
$68,037.06/yr. Starting Pay: $68,037.06/yr. Salary Range: $68,037.06 - $100,275.76/yr. Salary Notes: This position is designated as a Union position.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2pm. Shift is considered essential personnel in certain emergencies and may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours, including staying late or coming in early.
