FLSA: Non-Exempt | Location: Maintenance | Reports to: Assistant Facilities Director | 12-month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.
About the role
Licensed plumber skilled in performing plumbing tasks in accordance with standard practices and codes on steam boilers and domestic water/waste systems throughout the District.
Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs, replaces, and maintains existing District plumbing systems (hot water heaters, drinking fountains, wastewater, water, gas, steam, valves, etc.) in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.
- Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of plumbing systems to determine the most effective repairs of new or upgraded systems.
- Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in plumbing systems to identify repair or replacement needs.
- Estimates materials, labor, and/or equipment needed to complete assigned work for obtaining necessary materials, time, and communicating needs with supervisor.
- Oversees backflow inspections and cleaning of grease traps at various schools.
- Performs inspections of eyewash stations and safety showers in labs as required.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns and minimize disruptions.
- Maintains District resources (truck, tools, etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion.
- Assists with snow removal.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including moving furniture, chairs, risers, and other District resources as requested.
Requirements
- Journeyman plumbing license required; master license preferred.
- Class E driver’s license with a good driving history.
- Good work attitude with a positive and pleasant disposition.
- Self-starter; able to work independently.
