Player Development Coach, Sports Academy - $150,000/year USD
About the role
Competing at the pinnacle of your sport—as an Olympian, World Champion, or D1 First Team All-American—has taught you what it takes to excel under pressure. The question is whether you can convert that elite experience into concrete coaching methods that drive students to achieve at the highest levels. Texas Sports Academy is where your competitive background meets a new challenge: developing champions through direct, daily coaching rather than observation from the margins.
Texas Sports Academy is based in Austin, TX, and relocation assistance is included. The role is fully on-site, and full health, dental, and vision coverage begins on your first day.
Responsibilities
- Conducting focused 1:1 coaching sessions where you apply your athletic discipline to develop targeted, practical strategies for student motivation
- Delivering high-impact morning assemblies that activate and focus the entire student community
- Leading interactive life-skills workshops where you guide students through exercises in resilience, leadership development, and goal achievement
- Directing structured afternoon athletic training that embodies championship principles: creating drills, demanding effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through sport
- Actively connecting with every student across the day: moving through spaces during self-directed learning, stepping in to energize students who are struggling, and seizing opportunities that spark transformative insights
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Observing from a distance or acting as a symbolic presence: this role requires you to be fully engaged on the ground, leading sessions, and making real-time interventions
- Delivering standard classroom instruction or adhering to academic lesson plans: students progress through adaptive digital platforms, and your focus is life coaching, motivation, and cultivating meta-skills via sport and mentorship
Requirements
- Former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
- Bachelor's degree in any subject
- Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
- Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
