Platform Support or Validation Technician(Onsite)

About the role

The Platform Support Technician/System Board Support Technician is responsible for assembling, debugging, and maintaining computer systems. This role requires familiarity with various hardware components, firmware, and drivers, as well as proficiency in test and measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with computer client-server hardware architecture.
• Ability to assemble computer systems using various hardware components.
• Ability to debug issues in computer system bringup.
• Ability to flash BIOS, install operating systems (Windows/Linux), install firmware, and configure drivers.
• Ability to perform disk partitioning and configure networks.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug associated issues.
• Ability to socket CPUs.
• Ability to organize lab space and infrastructure for a given project, including network and power cabling, test bench, rack setup, etc.
• Knowledge on test and measurement equipment, including DMM, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and associated probes/cables.
• Working knowledge of BIOS, various firmware, and drivers, and their interaction with operating systems.
• Ability to make configuration changes at BIOS/Firmware level.
• Knowledge on scripting languages (Python, Shell).
• Ability to set up and run test automation scripts.
• Ability to setup test and measurement equipment for a given test.
• Triage test data and debug test setup/configuration related issues.

Requirements

Attention to detail and well organized. Ability to follow given instructions clearly. Able to lift 35 lbs. Job may require shifting computers from one rack to another. Candidate should have reliable transportation and be OK with daily commute as it is 100% onsite work. Candidate must have a good attitude, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
