About the role

The Department of Surgery at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional fellowship-trained Reconstructive Microsurgeon to join our Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Division in maintaining and growing an existing busy microsurgical practice including breast reconstruction, lymphatic surgery, lower extremity reconstruction, and general reconstruction.
  • Elective and emergency surgical practice based primarily at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics with a focus on adult microsurgery and general reconstructive surgery.
  • Share call responsibilities for plastic surgery patients with divisional colleagues.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows, dedicating a minimum of 5% of time to teaching.
  • Engage in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • Collaborate in a collegial manner with other faculty members.
  • Contribute to the academic mission of research, including basic and translational, outcomes or health services research.

Requirements

  • Wisconsin Medical License by appointment start date.
  • Board certification or Board Eligible in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent by the appointment start date.
  • Completion of Plastic and Reconstructive Residency training and fellowship training in Microvascular Surgery by the start date.
  • Eligibility for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO, or equivalent required.

Skills

  • Experience in Plastic & Reconstructive Microsurgery, including DIEP flap surgical techniques and lymphatic surgery.
  • An interest in global surgery/global health.
