Plant Technician

About the Role

Responsible for basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and performing equipment operation within specification and environmental regulations under the direction of skilled Plant Technicians. This role involves continuing to learn the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet while promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in troubleshooting plant equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
• Perform daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair/replacement, and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures.
• Maintain equipment at the plant and perform clearances in Lockout-Tagout-Verify (LOTOV) under the direction of a senior operator or supervisor.
• Operate various types of hand, power, precision, or machine tools to support safe and productive work environments.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all electronic control systems and computers.
• Understand and follow current safety and environmental regulations necessary for all phases of work.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures, including Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of related experience.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures (basic Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls).
• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• If applicable, hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body (MA, OH).
• Demonstrate standard computer-based skills and effective oral & verbal communication skills.
• If applicable, meet the requirement of PT1-E.
• Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program.

Key Metrics

• Progression of skill within primary skill set.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 job performance measures, including sign-offs demonstrating different primary and auxiliary system operations and maintenance relevant to primary skills.
• Demonstrate continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge.
