Plant Operator | Facilities Support

Job Description

The Plant Operator I, II, III, IV, and V positions at Singing River Health System perform general maintenance and support services across various facilities. The Plant Operator V is also responsible for training other operators.

Qualifications

• Plant Operator I: 0-2 years' experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or Life Safety Code.
• Plant Operator II: 2-4 years' experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or Life Safety Code.
• Plant Operator III: 4-6 years' experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or Life Safety Code.
• Plant Operator IV: 6+ years' experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or Life Safety Code.
• Plant Operator V: 6+ years' experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or Life Safety Code and at least one year as a Plant Operator IV.

Experience

• Plant Operator I: Requires 0-2 years' experience.
• Plant Operator II: Requires 2-4 years' experience.
• Plant Operator III: Requires 4-6 years' experience.
• Plant Operator IV: Requires 6+ years' experience.
• Plant Operator V: Requires 6+ years' experience and at least one year as a Plant Operator IV.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

License/Certifications

A certification is preferred for electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers.

Physical Demands

• Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions.
• Moderate to high physical agility and strength required.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases or radiation.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk without undue fatigue.
• May be exposed to noise and hazards.
• Requires a minimum standard of visual acuity.
• Subject to environmental conditions inside and outside the facility.
• Requires a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Superior communication and speaking/enunciation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Special Demands

• Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
• Basic knowledge and ability to use a computer (keyboard proficiency).
• Knowledge of hand tools, gauges, tape measure, etc.
• Plant Operator I: Basic computer skills.
• Plant Operator II, III, IV, V: Advanced computer skills and programming.
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Conditions

• Rotating shifts when requested or scheduled by Manager.
• Completion of online SRHS safety modules.
