Responsibilities
- Assign work and provide clear direction to operation employees.
- Ensure the facility is flowing smoothly, and all daily goals are met.
- Supervise production scheduling so appropriate quantities and varieties of product are produced to fill orders, meet demand, meet productivity goals, etc.
- Oversee production and cooler activities to ensure that plant production and quality standards are met.
- Monitor the equipment used in facility processes to ensure it is functioning efficiently, is properly cleaned, and sanitized.
- Communicate equipment failures to the maintenance department and ensure completion of repairs.
- Engage with employees through shift meetings and informal conversations, providing support and guidance to help cultivate positive and productive working relationships.
- Effectively apply work rules, union contract provisions (if applicable), and employment policies. Administer discipline consistently and fairly.
- Develop and implement effective safety programs for the identification, prevention, and control of injuries such as health and safety education and training programs.
- Perform regular assessments of operational areas for hazards; assist the management team and line organization in identifying hazards, developing job hazard analyses (JHA’s) and safe operating procedures for all tasks.
- Develop and implement audit programs to review and certify compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
- Support management in investigating workplace incidents, identifying root causes, creating incident review presentations, presenting the investigation, and developing corrective actions.
- Understand and fulfill the requirements of applicable federal, state, and local health regulations for food safety and quality.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Manufacturing or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or related experience coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team leadership experience; supervisor experience preferred.
- Experience in food and/or beverage manufacturing preferred.
