Plant Operations Tech II HVAC

About the role

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Plant Operations II Tech / HVAC to join their team. The ideal candidate will support the hospital's mission to be the premier hospital of choice.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems normally found in a Hospital
• Instruct or lead other Technicians and contract workers
• Assist in project management tasks as directed by the Plant Operations Director and department staff
• Complete assigned Scheduled Maintenance Work Orders (PM’s), Routine and Emergency Work Orders in allotted and timely manner
• Provide Security related duties Monday through Friday during daylight hours
• Maintain cooperative work relationships with others
• Assist in the “On Call” rotation and respond to emergency repairs
• Comply with all Hospital training and safety requirements
• Ensure that the requirements of EPA Section 608 are met

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent
• Training in de-escalation techniques such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• Must be able to register within one year of accepting position
• An Operating Engineer’s license is preferred
• An EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Certificate is required; Upgrade to Universal Certification must be completed within one year of hire

Necessary Special Requirements

• Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment
• Required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment
• Will be required to be free of felony convictions or pending felony charges until relief is granted

Training and Experience

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a healthcare maintenance or plant operations setting, performing duties which included the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, refrigeration, ventilation and power equipment including the operation and maintenance of air conditioning systems involving the use of automatic controls
• Residential and light commercial construction or maintenance experience does not apply
• Minimum 4 years HVAC experience at Journeyman level

Principle Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

• To assist Plant Operations Director and department staff in any project that may be required
• Perform and complete assigned Scheduled Maintenance Work Orders (PM’s), Routine and Emergency Work Orders in allotted and timely manner
• Provide Security related duties Monday through Friday during daylight hours
• Maintain cooperative work relationships with others
• Assist in the “On Call” rotation and respond to emergency repairs
• Comply with all Hospital training and safety requirements
• Perform recordkeeping, safe handling, disposal, and all other aspects necessary to comply with EPA Section 608 Regulations
