About the role

This position exists to efficiently perform required maintenance on all refrigeration, cooling, heating, and temperature-controlled systems in the buildings with the assistance of the incarcerated work crew(s). Provide assistance to other building trades as needed as well as that of the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems. This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all refrigeration, cooling, heating, and temperature-controlled systems in the buildings.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems as needed.
  • Provide assistance to other building trades as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Document maintenance activities and report findings to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with the incarcerated work crew(s) to ensure efficient and effective maintenance tasks are completed.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in Minnesota as a First Class B Boiler Operator.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting and moving equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license (if required for travel).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in plant maintenance or a related field.
  • Experience working with incarcerated individuals.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in HVAC systems and maintenance.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with safety protocols.
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact with incarcerated individuals and colleagues.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Pay

$33.57 - $38.98 / hourly; $70,094 - $81,390 / annually
