Maintenance Engineer

Job Overview

The Maintenance Engineer operates and maintains the equipment and fixtures within the facility using acceptable work practices and following hospital and departmental guidelines to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains various pieces of mechanical and electrical equipment following accepted practices and procedures.
  • These systems include plumbing, controls, HVAC refrigeration and electrical/emergency power.
  • Repairs and maintains patient care equipment to provide a safe environment for patients and comply with the standards of the various regulatory agencies.
  • Gains a thorough working knowledge of the major systems within the hospital, and is able to operate them safely and efficiently and troubleshoot problems so they can be reminded with a minimum of down time and distribution of service.
  • Repairs, maintains, adjusts and calibrates miscellaneous portable equipment brought to the shop for repair, including but not limited to wheelchairs, carts, kitchen equipment, blood pressure monitors, beds, tubes etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use blueprints, schematics and technical manuals to trouble-shoot an isolate problems.
  • Performs periodic preventive maintenance on fans, motors, belts, HVAC systems, steam, water, sewer, air and vacuum lines regulatory as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years Building maintenance, that includes HVAC, electrical, mechanical, EMS, fire systems pumps
• Technical School Graduate of an accredited trade school in refrigeration, electricity, building maintenance or other appropriate course
• Minnesota Maintenance Electrical License ; Universal Refrigeration Certification
