Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Maintenance Laborer to help keep our operations running smoothly. As a key member of our maintenance team, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and management to ensure our plant and equipment are operating at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, including the use of ladders to access elevated platforms and landings.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and servicing—welding experience is a plus.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues on conveyor belts, rollers, bearings, gearboxes, air compressor systems, water systems, and more.
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as Bobcats, skid steers, loaders, and man lifts.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, including maintaining constant eye contact and using hand signals when working in close proximity or backing up equipment.
  • Strictly adhere to all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Follow directions from the Foreman regarding daily tasks and project-specific expectations.
  • Conduct daily pre- and post-inspections on equipment, accurately documenting findings in compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in training and mentoring less-experienced team members on equipment operation, servicing, and repair.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned to support team and company goals.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous experience or training in construction or a related field is preferred.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
  • Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 50–75 lbs as needed.
  • Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
  • Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, and “Fit for Work” physical (may require a medical card for driving).
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S. (I-9 documentation required).
  • Professional, courteous attitude toward colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as required, including nights and weekends.
  • Reliability to report to work on time and work overtime when needed.
  • Flexibility to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Commitment to strict safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA/MSHA.
  • Team player mentality with a willingness to collaborate and support co-workers and supervisors.
