Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Maintenance Laborer to help keep our operations running smoothly. As a key member of our maintenance team, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and management to ensure our plant and equipment are operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, including the use of ladders to access elevated platforms and landings.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and servicing—welding experience is a plus.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues on conveyor belts, rollers, bearings, gearboxes, air compressor systems, water systems, and more.
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as Bobcats, skid steers, loaders, and man lifts.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, including maintaining constant eye contact and using hand signals when working in close proximity or backing up equipment.
- Strictly adhere to all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow directions from the Foreman regarding daily tasks and project-specific expectations.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-inspections on equipment, accurately documenting findings in compliance with company policies.
- Assist in training and mentoring less-experienced team members on equipment operation, servicing, and repair.
- Take on additional duties as assigned to support team and company goals.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience or training in construction or a related field is preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
- Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50–75 lbs as needed.
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
- Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
What We’re Looking For
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, and “Fit for Work” physical (may require a medical card for driving).
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S. (I-9 documentation required).
- Professional, courteous attitude toward colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home as required, including nights and weekends.
- Reliability to report to work on time and work overtime when needed.
- Flexibility to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Commitment to strict safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA/MSHA.
- Team player mentality with a willingness to collaborate and support co-workers and supervisors.
