Summary/Objective

The Plant Engineer is responsible for partnering with other members of the Production Engineering and Maintenance team to maintain mechanical and electrical control systems, machinery, and equipment, ensuring smooth production function and operation of printing presses and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance and Electrician teams on day-to-day problems such as equipment breakdowns or supporting ongoing projects within the facility.
  • Participate in the design and development of supplementary processes or equipment with the Engineering Team; support electrical installation of new equipment and mechanical work when needed.
  • Work with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) in the Flexible printing industry.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of Industrial Automation Products like Drives, PLC, SCADA from major suppliers such as Siemens & Rexroth.
  • Understand Electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics for both troubleshooting and designing new internal control systems.
  • Possess basic capability in PLC or equivalent software for machine control and communication among machines, HMI, and other components. Experience in LabVIEW programming, VFDs, and Ladder-Logic programming is a plus.
  • Work with state and federal agencies to ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations regarding equipment installations and facility processes; ensure projects meet legal, environmental, and health and safety requirements.
  • Evaluate current equipment, mechanical, and electrical installations for issues; work with Production teams on scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance measures.
  • Support efforts to maintain high-quality standards as defined by BRC and other plant-wide initiatives.

Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years’ experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the printing and packaging industry.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Able to move and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to reach and bend.

Travel Required

Ability to travel 5% domestically and internationally.
