The FPC Supplier Industrialization Engineer (SIE) is the subject matter expert on FPC and rigid-flex manufacturing processes and fabrication rulesets and will be responsible for supplier audits, qualifications, and supplier selections for all FPCs in Tesla’s electronics portfolio.

What You'll Do

  • Support with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) based on FPC supplier fabrication limitations and guide Design Engineers to optimize FPC layouts and designs
  • Define and maintain FPC specifications, criteria, and reliability standards to improve supplier performance for incumbent and new FPC suppliers
  • Review and define APQP/PPAP requirements as the primary owner and approver of downstream FPC and rigid-flex suppliers
  • Conduct FPC supplier audits and support with the development of additional audit criteria to assess suppliers to meet Tesla’s high standard of quality
  • Drive FPC suppliers on quality issues and field escalations based on root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Support negotiations for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla’s pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality
  • Participate on cost reduction initiatives by exploring new and innovative process, materials, design and new technologies

What You'll Bring

  • Degree or relevant experience in Electrical, Mechanical, and Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with FPC manufacturing or industrializing and managing FPC suppliers
  • Subject Matter Expert on Flexible Printed Circuits, Rigid-Flex, or Conductive Trace Printing on Flexible Polymer materials
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, SPC, RCCA, and related methods like control charts and pareto analysis
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of industry specifications and standards especially IPC and JEDEC
  • Experienced with optimizing FPC panel design, and material vs cost vs capacity
  • Solid technical knowledge of the FPC Assembly manufacturing process
  • International travel is required to engage with manufacturing partners, sometimes on short notice

Expected Compensation

$88,000 - $198,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
