Join our 1A shift team as an Ink Technician and play a hands-on role in bringing high-quality flexible packaging to life. In this fast-paced, high-energy environment, you’ll be at the heart of the operation—mixing, matching, and managing inks that keep our presses running smoothly and our products looking their best.
Schedule
- AM shift hours: 3:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
- 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, and 7 days off (12-hour shifts with consistent hours, no swing shift)
- Overtime after 36 hours
Pay
- $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
- Shift differential for the AM shift: $1.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures and nurture a food safety culture by adhering to Safe Quality Foods requirements
- Mix ink using the appropriate formula and match to set color standard (mix only enough for the job)
- Deliver required ink and varnish to press using the Ink Queue System
- Proof inks to established DE target using a hand proofer and Measure Color system
- Return unused ink to the ink room and dispose of contaminated ink
- Adjust colors on press to match set color standards
- Update formulas to ensure accuracy
- Maintain the appearance of the ink room
- Ensure the next shift presses have ink according to the schedule to reduce downtime
- Assist press operators
- Monitor ink room supply levels and inform the Lead Ink Technician when levels are low
- Produce customer drawdowns as needed
- Enter ink and varnish levels into the computer and reorder low-level items
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements
- Education equivalent to two (2) years of high school
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow both written and oral English communication
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple written and oral instructions
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to meet deadlines and work some overtime
- Nearly constant concentration and attention to detail
Skills
- Stand and walk for 90% of work time
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for 10% of work time
- See clearly at 20 inches or less
- Observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point
- Judge distances and spatial relationships
- Adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
- Use hands for 100% of work time (e.g., mixing inks)
- Reach above shoulders for 25% of work time (e.g., placing containers of ink on and off shelves approximately 6 ft. high)
- Lift 10 pounds or less 25% of work time
- Lift 25 pounds or less 30% of work time
- Lift 50 pounds or less 35% of work time
- Lift 100 pounds or less 10% of work time
- May move items weighing over 100 pounds
