Ink Technician -Flexible Packaging (PM Shift) - Plant 3
About the role
Join our 2B shift team as an Ink Technician and play a hands-on role in bringing high-quality flexible packaging to life. In this fast-paced, high-energy environment, you’ll be at the heart of the operation—mixing, matching, and managing inks that keep our presses running smoothly and our products looking their best.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
- Mix ink using appropriate formula and match to set color standard. Amount mixed should only be enough to run job.
- Utilize Ink Queue System to deliver required ink, varnish to press.
- Proof inks to established DE target using hand proofer and Measure Color system.
- Return unused ink to ink room. Dispose contaminated ink.
- Adjust colors on press to match set color standard. Update formulas to ensure their accuracy.
- Ensure the appearance of the ink room. Ensure that the next shift presses have ink according to the schedule to reduce downtime.
- Aid press operators. Monitor ink room supply levels and inform appropriate Lead Ink Technician when levels are low.
- May produce customer drawdowns. May enter ink and vanish levels into computer and reorder low level items.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow both written and oral English communication.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
- Ability to: stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
- Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distances and spatial relationships; and to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
- Ability to: use hands for 100% of work time (i.e. mixing inks, etc.); and reach above shoulders for 25% of work time (i.e. placing containers of ink on to and off of shelves approximately 6 ft.).
- Ability to lift: 10 pounds or less 25% of work time; 25 pounds or less 30% of work time; 50 pounds or less 35% of work time; and 100 pounds or less 10% of work time. (Example: placing containers of ink on to and off of shelves approximately 6 ft.).
- May move items weighing over 100 pounds.

Pay
$23.00 - $25.00 per Hour. The hourly rate for this position is determined by the level of the role, relevant experience, and may incorporate shift differentials, ensuring fair compensation that reflects both expertise and responsibilities entailed. Shift differential for the PM shift is $2.00 per hour.
Schedule
PM shift hours are from 3:00 P.M. - 3:00 A.M. with a schedule of 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on and 7 days off. 12 hour shifts with consistent hours, NO SWING SHIFTS. Overtime after 36 hours!
