Responsibilities
- Designs and manages planning projects, guiding internal teams and consultants towards firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
- Designs and manages landscape architecture projects.
- Responsible for the design quality of work.
- Develops solutions to design problems.
- Origins and develops creative design concepts and the design documents during the design development phase.
- Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to Firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
- Fulfills a holistic and integrated approach to design focusing on creating high performing sustainable solutions.
- Initiates project design and idea discussions.
- Promotes and maintains HOK’s design reputation.
- Effectively listens and responds to client goals and offers excellent solutions and service.
- Maintains strong communication and relations with other HOK practices and resources.
- Continually contributes to the upgrade of the design process, working collaboratively with designers from other disciplines.
- Designs, develops, modifies and reviews drawings for landscape architecture projects.
- Demonstrates reliable understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
- Affords assistance in the preparation of proposals; participates in interviews and public presentations.
- Participates in marketing and business development opportunities.
- Identifies new business opportunities while developing current client relationships.
- Oversees design team or less experienced designers to ensure design intent.
- Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff and may participate in professional development reviews.
- Participates in interviews and the recruiting of professional staff.
- Proactively engages staff and provides opportunities for development.
- Actively promotes collaborative and innovative culture.
- Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or architecture plus 13 years’ experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.
- Master’s degree in landscape architecture may also be required.
- Registration with current license required.
- LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.

- Experience in large-scale projects for a variety of clients.
- Ability to sell and deliver a range of services in a variety of client situations.

Pay
The reasonably expected range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000. Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position that requires employees to come into our Midtown NYC office 3 days a week. Any applicants residing outside the NYC metropolitan area must be willing and able to cover the costs to move to the NYC metropolitan area should they be offered and accept the position.
