Planning and Code Enforcement Manager

About the role

The Planning & Code Enforcement Manager performs professional planning duties; maintains and administers City development regulations; initiates plans; establishes programs; and coordinates implementation of the same.

Responsibilities

• Captures and analyzes data relating to various aspects of development for the City;
• Prepares written reports, development plans, and other planning documents;
• Presents plans and recommendations to the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Historic Preservation Commission, and other appropriate entities;
• Serves on interdepartmental committees; Represents the division before the City Planning Commission; Zoning; Board of Adjustment; Historic Preservation Commission and other groups dealing with Community Development;
• Supervises sanitarian and zoning code compliance efforts for the City.

Requirements

• Coordinates the preparation and maintenance of plans for the development of the City;
• Supervises the collection and analysis of data relating to various aspects of development for the City;
• Supervises the preparation of written reports, development plans, and other planning documents;
• Represents the Community Development Department;
• Supervises sanitarian and zoning code compliance efforts for the City.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field; a minimum of five years’ experience in planning; a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: AICP, required or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
