Major Accountability
- Analyze demand, capacity, and material availability to ensure feasible production plans
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize workflow and reduce bottlenecks
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in planning processes
- Size parts using statistically sound inventory methods to prevent shortages while avoiding excess and obsolete inventory
- Manage the planning and scheduling impact of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), including part substitutions, use-up strategies, and seamless cutover scheduling for replaced parts
- Evaluate parts returned from the field through warranty and customer returns to determine rework, reuse, or disposition
- Schedule assembly lines to align production with customer-requested ship dates
- Champion and help drive change as the department modernizes its planning tools and processes
- Provide liaison between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Shipping
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory targets
- Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems
- Manage the ECN process for the department — coordinating part substitutions, use-up strategies, and seamless cutover scheduling for replaced parts
- Review parts returned from the field (warranty and customer returns) through the rework process and determine whether they can be reworked or repurposed into other assemblies
- Apply statistical sizing methods (e.g., periodic order-up-to, safety stock) to set min/max and reorder levels that prevent shortages without creating excess inventory
- Schedule assembly lines to meet customer-requested ship dates, and communicate part and pick requirements clearly to the picking team to ensure on-time delivery to the line
- Aid in S&OP or demand planning processes
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing planning or scheduling
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Familiarity with capacity planning and forecasting
- Experience with ECN processes, MRP/parts planning, or rework and returns evaluation is a plus
Skills & Abilities
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills; comfortable working with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Shipping
- Embraces change and continuous improvement; eager to help modernize department tools and processes
- Interacts effectively with all levels of management and staff
