About the role

Our Grizzly Pipeline Operations team is looking for an experienced Pipeline Technician to join our Canada Gas Operations in Northern Alberta. Based in Fairview, Alberta, and reporting to the Grizzly Pipe Team Manager, this role supports the Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines business. You’ll apply mechanical and technical skills to maintain natural gas compressor stations, measurement stations, and pipeline sites, ensuring smooth operations in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This position acts as the primary isolation coordinator and is eligible for our domestic relocation program.

Schedule

• Week 1: Monday to Thursday (9 hours/day), Friday (8 hours)
• Week 2: Monday to Thursday (9 hours/day), Friday (Regular Day Off)

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment such as actuators, valves, stem seals, and related components
• Plan and lead pipeline isolation, blowdowns, and other gas handling activities, including installation and operation of air movers/expellers
• Conduct pipeline purging, loading, bleed-ins to pressurize pipelines, and complete return-to-service activities
• Support the operation of transfer compressors for pipeline pull-downs
• Assist in gas leak surveys as reported by aerial patrols
• Perform and assist with tasks associated with in-line inspection programs
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance (PMs/CMs) and close out work orders in SAP
• Operate and maintain natural gas pipelines and associated equipment
• Read and interpret alignment sheets
• Lead/manage safe and efficient completion of low-complexity projects, including coordinating and monitoring contractor work
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
• Complete basic “as-built” prints and update pipeline-related schematics (red-line drawings)
• Identify encroachment issues, report, and manage unauthorized activities
• Complete LDAR repairs, planned, and corrective maintenance
• Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy’s safety, health, environment, and risk standards
• Operate equipment such as ATVs, air compressors, generators, and light towers
• Perform tasks from other disciplines
• Understand and accept that the position requires significant on-the-road work

Requirements

• Journeyman certification in a trade or two years of post-secondary training
• 2 years of related work experience
• Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitude
• Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a driver’s abstract for review
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
• Willingness to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (estimated up to 70% of work schedule)
• Ability to work extended hours (estimated up to 30% of work schedule)
• Participation in an on-call rotation and provision of emergency support as required
• Ability to work in adverse weather and temperature conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant work experience related to pipelines
• Experience with valve operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair
• Experience operating and maintaining high-pressure natural gas pipelines and/or facilities
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or SAP experience
