About the role

The job involves independently installing, modifying, and repairing complex high-pressure piping systems and associated equipment. It also requires planning and laying out piping systems according to building plans, blueprints, and technical sketches.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, and repair high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as steam-heating, steam generation, hydraulic systems, flash tanks, and circulating pumps.
  • Plan and lay out the routing, placement, pitch, and elevation of piping systems and equipment based on building plans, blueprints, and technical sketches.
  • Use shop mathematics to calculate angles, arcs, and circles, and determine the precise pipe, joint, and valve sizes required to support system pressures and control movement or vibration.
  • Determine the correct placement levels, install, and align critical system components such as risers, flexible branches, expansion joints, pressure regulators, and vacuum pumps.
  • Test completed installations and repairs to ensure proper circulation, flow, and pressure, verifying that all joints are leak-free and compliant with trade standards.

Requirements

Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Must work on your own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
