Responsibilities
- Obtains weather briefing and prepares flight plan(s) considering such factors as altitude to be flown, terrain and/or obstacles, weather, fuel load and airport facilities.
- Ensures that all flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with all FAR’S, Operations Specifications, and Avera’s policies/procedures.
- Ensures that all Check List items are complied with according to the AFM.
- Consults with Leader of Operations in solving operational problems and procedures.
- Responsible and accountable for the ongoing operations of the flight program in compliance with established safety/quality standards, goals and objectives.
- Captains coordination with the Leader of Maintenance the timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies and scheduled maintenance.
- Responds to flight requests within the guidelines of the flight program and assists crew with loading and unloading.
- Aids in monthly program meetings and training.
Requirements
- Must have and maintain a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Certificate and instrument rating.
- Upon Hire or Airline Transport Pilot License - Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate valid for Rotorcraft Category, Helicopter Class.
- Upon Hire and FAA Medical Class - Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Current First or Second Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- 1500 total flight hours, 1200 hours must be in helicopters, 1000 hours must be Pilot in Command rotorcraft hours, 100 unaided night hours or 50 hours unaided, with 100 aided night hours, 500 hours of turbine time.
Qualifications
The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Skills
All Careflight personnel are responsible for maintaining physical health and proper weight, not to exceed 240 pounds.
