Responsibilities
- Representing clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in personal injury cases.
- Examining legal data to determine advisability of defending lawsuit.
- Evaluating findings and developing strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
- Advising clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
- Gathering evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
- Conducting legal research and analysis of law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, etc.
- Managing and overseeing paralegals and legal assistants.
- Preparing for and conducting depositions.
- Demonstrating superior customer service skills to clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved.
- Negotiating settlements for legal disputes.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in personal injury defense.
- Active member of the State Bar in good standing.
- Proven experience in conducting and defending depositions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and professional accountability.
Pay
$170,000 - $250,000 per year
