Physician (Section Chief, Urology)
About the role
The Section Chief of Urology physician is assigned to Surgical Service, Urology Section, of the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVACHS), and is under the supervision of the Chief of Surgical Services. The Section Chief provides comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Urology. The scope of these activities covers hospitalized patients and all phases of ambulatory care.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Urology.
- Diagnoses and treats patients with medical diseases, accomplished through ambulatory and bed-based resources assigned to Urology Surgery.
- Participates in patient care through hospital rounds, morning reports, conferences, consultations, participation in ambulatory care and other similar activities.
- Coordinates and provides urology surgery consultation throughout the medical center.
- Recruits qualified physicians to perform comprehensive and specialized patient care and teaching.
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship
Basic Requirements: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
BC/BE in Urology.
Proficient in spoken and written English (for patient care).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- MD or DO degree
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Urology
- Experience in both laparoscopic and robotic surgery preferred
- Proficiency in the use of various computer programs for patient care
- Supervisory experience is a plus
