Physician Radiation Oncology, Radiation Oncologist - CNS, GI, GU, or Thoracic (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Position Overview

The Physician provides licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above mentioned services. The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as a member of the Department of Radiation Oncology
• Directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Counsels and interviews patients
• Reviews medical history and performs physical examinations
• Orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services
• Prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or medications required
• Documents all services and instructions provided in medical record
• Educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families
• Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities
• Serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of Radiation Oncology
• Ensures continuing medical education requirements are met
• Participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified or board eligible in specialization required
• Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship {if applicable} training program required
• Current or interim permit to practice medicine from the State of Ohio Medical Board required
• Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Radiation Oncology required
• Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required
• Sub-specialty board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Radiation Oncology preferred
