About the Role

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a Physician Practice Coordinator to provide dedicated operational and administrative support to the Colon & Rectal Program. Working closely with the Area Vice President, the PPC will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of physician practice management while supporting the day-to-day operations and continued growth of the program. The PPC will work directly with physicians and practice staff to promote efficient operations, patient access, appropriate staffing, and overall practice performance. This position requires the ability to understand and support multiple functions within the practice and provide coverage when operational needs arise.

Responsibilities

Practice Operations

  • Provide on-site daily operational oversight for the Colon & Rectal Program, including staff schedules and payroll
  • Work closely with the Area Vice President on operational priorities, practice performance, and program growth
  • Support physicians and staff with day-to-day operational needs
  • Provide coverage for patient scheduling, registration, and back-office functions as needed
  • Provide coverage and support for surgical scheduling
  • Coordinate ordering and maintenance of practice supplies
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, patient access, and patient throughput
  • Support implementation of operational initiatives and process improvements across the program

Financial Management

  • Work with the Area Vice President to understand practice financial reporting, budgeting, and overall financial performance
  • Develop an understanding of insurance billing and reimbursement processes and assist with resolving billing issues
  • Develop a working knowledge of coding and billing practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and financial performance

Human Resources

  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding of key practice positions, including front desk staff, Medical Assistants, call center staff, and surgical schedulers
  • Participate in staff orientation, training, and ongoing development
  • Coordinate staff scheduling and assist with daily staffing needs
  • Work with leadership to identify and address operational and staffing needs within the program

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or 3 years of related Physician Practice Experience
  • Must be willing to travel to hubsite locations

Pay

  • Minimum: $26.13/hr
  • Maximum: $43.11/hr
  • Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
