About the role

Collaborate with patients, families (as defined by the patient), and staff across all disciplines and departments in the specialty area of Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide direct and appropriate clinical care and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical assessments of patients using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation, and percussion.
• Order or execute various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to gather information on patient conditions.
• Diagnose and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries based on patient's medical history and physical assessment results, and refer patients to specialists if necessary.
• Prescribe medications and therapies for treatment, preventive care, and contraception.
• Instruct patients and their families on family planning, procedures performed, plan of care, and follow-up visits.
• Direct professional and ancillary healthcare staff during patient treatment.
• Respond to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventive health and treatments.
• Compile patient medical data, including health histories, treatment plans, results of physical examinations, etc., and record in electronic medical records.
• Report required information, such as deaths and outbreaks of contagious diseases, to governmental authorities.
• Plan, promote, demonstrate, recommend, and coordinate high standards of medical practice.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission and CommUnityCare Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and families.
• Support and lead a team-oriented environment, ensuring quality patient care and adherence to organizational policies and values.
• Perform objective annual evaluations of direct reports with input from the site leadership team.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institution.
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
• Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology or successful completion of the Board Certification examination within two years of employment.
• Current DEA registration for prescription writing.
• Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association.
