Summary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtains and records patient's medical history.
  • Maintains EHR and documents accurately, timely, and thoroughly.
  • Obtain and maintain privileges at local community hospitals.
  • Provides outpatient and inpatient obstetrics and gynecology services.
  • Fulfills administrative duties such as following policies, standard practices, and guidelines.
  • Performs health screenings including pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams.
  • Treats diseases of female organs, manages family planning, treats menopause and hormonal disorders, monitors and treats patients during pregnancy and childbirth, coordinates with other providers, refers patients to specialists, orders and analyzes necessary tests, and administers or prescribes treatments and drugs.
  • Performs surgical procedures and inoculations/vaccinations.
  • Represents the organization during itineration, mission events, etc.
  • Strives to meet the spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of patients as appropriate.
  • Oversees advanced practice providers (Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses).
  • Assists in performance improvement projects and annual evaluations of directly supervised staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises assistants (nurses or medical assistants).
  • Assists the Chief Medical Officer with performance improvement projects and annual evaluations of directly supervised staff.

Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Embrace a team-based approach to patient care.
  • Communicate with community organizations, health plans, facilities, and specialists.
  • Proactively address the needs of patients and families.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
  • Advocate for patients and families.
  • Provide cross coverage for other area providers as required.

General Duties

  • Follows policies and procedures of the office.
  • Maintains good attendance and timely documentation.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Routinely keeps supervisor informed about attendance and job assignments.
  • Works effectively and at an efficient pace.
  • Works cooperatively with providers, administration, and peers.

Qualification Requirements

  • Licensed as a Medical Doctor in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and holds a class 2-5 certification with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
  • Completed residency in OB-GYN.
  • At least 2 years of practicing medicine in a hospital or private practice.
  • Current BLS/CPR certificate.

Skills

  • Read, write, and speak English at a high level of proficiency.

Education and/or Experience

  • Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited university.
  • Documented clinical rotations, residencies, fellowships, etc.
  • Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly talks or hears.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Usually moderate noise level.
  • May involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious materials.
  • May require occasional travel.
