Department Overview

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health includes a 50+-member Section of Psychiatry. Key highlights include:

• 84 inpatient adult psychiatric beds at Harding Hospital
• Psychiatric emergency service handling over 8,000 consults annually
• Expanding partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs
• Development of additional suburban clinical sites
• Residency program with over 50 general psychiatry residents and fellowships in child psychiatry, addiction medicine, forensic psychiatry, and consult-liaison psychiatry

Responsibilities

Faculty responsibilities align with the tripartite mission of patient care, education, and clinical research. Key duties include:

• Applying thorough knowledge of DSM-5 and ICD-10 mental health diagnoses
• Contributing to training, research, and scholarly pursuits
• Participating in committees, conferences, and professional meetings
• Representing OSU at community speaking engagements
• Adhering to Medical Center policies, procedures, and standards of practice

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program or Addiction Medicine Fellowship
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine
• Eligible for an Ohio Medical License

Faculty Tracks

The position offers multiple faculty tracks, including:

• Clinical Faculty: Focus on exemplary clinical care, with potential involvement in teaching and research. Appointments are non-tenure track, with terms of 3–5 years.
• Tenure-Track Faculty: Focus on research, service, and teaching, with eligibility for tenure. May include clinical care for MD or MD/PhD holders.
• Research Faculty: Focus on research, with non-tenure track appointments of 1–5 years.
