Department Manager
About the role
The role involves leading shifts and departments in a McDonald's restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee, not McDonald’s USA. As a Department Manager, responsibilities may include:
- Ensuring the delivery of a great customer experience
- Managing sales promotions effectively
- Training service staff in service procedures
- Organizing the Front Counter McCafé and Drive-Thru areas for optimal service
- Ensuring the restaurant delivers high-quality food and fast service
- Maintaining food safety and controlling food costs
- Hiring, training, and scheduling staff to meet sales and profit goals
- Supporting new employees and motivating current staff
Responsibilities
Managers lead shifts every week, ensuring customers receive a fast, accurate, and friendly experience. Some managers also lead Departments, with responsibilities varying based on the department:
- Guest Service Department Manager: Ensures Crew and Managers deliver a great customer experience, manages sales promotions, trains service staff, and organizes the Front Counter McCafé and Drive-Thru areas.
- Kitchen Department Manager: Ensures the restaurant delivers high-quality food and fast service, maintains food safety, controls food costs, and trains kitchen staff in production procedures.
- People Department Manager: Hires qualified crew, trains them well, schedules them to meet restaurant sales and profit goals, supports new employees, and motivates current staff.
Requirements
Previous managerial experience is preferred, ideally within a restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment. Positive team players with flexible schedules and a passion for the fast-paced McDonald’s environment are sought. Applicants must be 18 years or older to apply for this position.
