About the role

At CHKD Medical Group (CMG), pediatricians work closely with the full range of pediatric specialists and surgeons at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. CMG employs more than 120 board-certified pediatricians and nurse practitioners in 19 primary care practices.

Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality, compassionate pediatric care in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic medical conditions in children.
  • Building strong connections with patients and families, and fostering a supportive environment.
  • Participating in rotating on-call duties as needed.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including subspecialists, nursing staff, and on-call triage.
  • Ensuring patient care is aligned with best practices and medical guidelines.
  • Engaging in continuing medical education and professional development.

Requirements

  • Board eligible or board certified in pediatrics (if board eligible, certification must be obtained within 2 years of residency completion).
  • Must possess a valid Virginia medical license.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care.
  • Ability to build excellent rapport with children and families.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Completion of an accredited pediatric residency program.
  • Passing scores on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX).

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Knowledge of pediatric medicine and treatment protocols.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records systems.

Pay

Competitive salaries are offered based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Flexible scheduling is available to meet individual needs, with limited weekend call and no inpatient care required. On-call nurse triage system available 365 days a year.
