Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner | Sherman, TX

NextCare is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Sherman, Texas. This opportunity is ideal for a clinician who values variety, autonomy, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
- Manage acute illnesses, minor injuries, and occupational health visits
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory testing and imaging
- Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record
- Code and bill services appropriately
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
- Practice in alignment with NextCare’s clinical standards and values
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
- Nurse Practitioners must hold active ANCC or AANP certification; Family Nurse Practitioner certification is required
- Physician Assistants must hold active NCCPA certification
- Active DEA registration or ability to obtain
- Ability and willingness to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Active DOT certification or willingness to obtain it; associated fees are covered
Qualifications
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Experience with initial X-ray interpretation before radiology over-read
- Comfort practicing independently in an urgent care environment
- Occupational medicine and workers’ compensation experience

Pay
NextCare offers competitive hourly compensation based on experience, along with bonus opportunities.
Schedule
Three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
