About the role

The University of Maryland Faculty Practice is seeking a Physician Assistant to join their hospitalist program at the Downtown Campus. This position will work alongside over 40 hospitalists who specialize in general internal medicine, transplant patients, and medical consultations.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a primary admittor, rounder, consultant, and discharger for general internal medicine patients, transplant patients, and medical consultations.
  • Participate in procedures such as peripheral line placement and exams through point of care ultrasound training.
  • Engage in patient safety and quality improvement projects across the School of Medicine and with the University of Maryland Medical Center.
  • Provide inpatient training to Physician Assistant students through collaboration with the University of Maryland Physician Assistant Program.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an NCCPA-approved Physician Assistant Training Program.
  • Licensure by the Maryland State Board of Physicians as a Physician’s Assistant.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • Knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a hospitalist setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in teaching and mentoring Physician Assistant students.

  • Excellent clinical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is determined by multiple factors including geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor, and span of control. For more information, refer to the provided link.

Schedule

This position includes 12-hour day shifts with a rotating schedule of days on and off, including weekend shifts.
