Physician Assistant-Hospitalist Program

Job Summary

The Division of General Internal Medicine of the University of Utah's School of Medicine is seeking motivated candidates for an Advance Practice Clinician Hospitalist position. This role involves providing inpatient care and may require accessing and administering medications.

Responsibilities

• Takes complex medical histories on patients referred by academic and community physicians.
• Performs physical examinations.
• Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
• Develops treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
• Participates in continuing medical education, including specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards, and conferences.
• Aids in the collection of data for research projects.
• Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
• Participates in special projects and committee functions.

Requirements

• Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.
