The role of Physical Therapist Assistant involves delivering treatment, exercise instruction, and patient education to enhance patient well-being according to an established care plan. Primary responsibilities include following state-specific laws, performing procedures within training, and making care plan recommendations to a supervising Physical Therapist. They instruct patients in exercises, gait, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training, while monitoring and reporting patient responses and condition changes. Coordination with healthcare team members and education of patients, families, and caregivers are essential aspects of the role. Qualifications include a current license or certification to practice physical therapy, a valid driver’s license or access to transportation, and availability for weekend work. Preferred skills include CPR certification and physical ability to assist with mobility tasks.
