Physical Requirements of a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
- Frequently lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds
- Regularly lift and carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds
- Occasionally perform one-person transfers of patients weighing up to 125 pounds who are stable and able to assist
- Occasionally participate in the transfer of patients weighing up to 175 pounds who cannot assist, are unstable, or are unpredictable
- Patients weighing over 180 pounds should be transferred with a mechanical device when unable to effectively participate in transfer
- Frequently stoop and bend
- Push and pull
- Reach above the shoulder
- Sit, stand, walk
- Grasp and fine motor manipulation with the hands
- Proofread and check documents for accuracy

- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant
