Physical Therapist, Scranton Transitional Rehab Unit (Call-In, Days)
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and implements treatment for assigned patients under the supervision of the Team Supervisor. They must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients, including adults through geriatrics.
Education
A Bachelor's, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited school of Physical Therapy is required.
Experience
New graduates are acceptable; one to two years of Physical Therapy experience is preferred.
Special Employment Requirements
- Current licensure (or license eligible) as a Physical Therapist by the PA State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs is required.
- Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check, PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Central Register (Childline), PA Department of Human Services FBI fingerprint clearance, and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable).
- Good written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff, patients, and families are required.
- A valid PA driver's license is required due to travel in community reintegration activities.
- CPR Certification must be obtained and maintained.
- The Physical Therapist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care appropriate to the age-specific needs and culture of the patient served.
Physical Demands
Duties involve moderate work, requiring up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10-25 lbs. of force frequently. The position involves lifting/transferring patients, carrying objects, pushing wheelchairs, sitting, and working in reaching and strained positions throughout the shift. Transporting oneself throughout the facility is required. Occasional exposure to blood and body substances is also present.
Working Conditions
Works in well-lit office, gym, and patient care areas.
