About the Role

The Physical Therapist (PT) provides a variety of medical services, in a variety of settings (Acute, Outpatient, Inpatient Rehab), to help individuals who have been injured or physically affected by illness to recover or improve function. A PT specializes in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent injuries and/or health conditions that limit the ability to move and perform everyday activities across all age groups: infant (birth to 1 year), Pediatric (1 year to 12 years), Adolescence (13-17 years), Adult (18-64 years), and Geriatric (65 years and above). Physical Therapists not only help restore a patient’s physical function and mobility but also work to promote overall wellness and boost the patient’s quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating levels of function and disability and creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs and personal goals.
• Completing administrative tasks including documenting billing information and keeping timely and accurate records of initial evaluations, diagnoses, treatment progress, and treatment plan notes as required by state law, Physical Therapy Practice Act, and hospital policy and procedures.
• Developing and implementing purposeful goals for assigned patients.
• Identifying and reviewing treatment plans and assessing patient performance to modify, change, or write new PT programs.
• Providing patient and family education/training, in addition to counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with functional impairments and disabilities.
• Taking responsibility for care given to patients by support staff, including orienting, instructing, and directing work activities of assistants, students, and techs.
• Conferring with physicians and other practitioners to integrate PT with other aspects of patient’s health care.
• Maintaining current state licensure by completing licensing board and state requirements.
• Complying with federal and state physical therapy regulations.
• Maintaining legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JACHO) standards.
• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Demonstrating understanding of the obligation to preserve the confidentiality of customer and staff health and financial information and circumstances.
• Ensuring regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
• Appropriately adapting assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
• Utilizing assistive devices for lifting as mandatory.
• Adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Completing required vaccinations per DRH policy, with medical and religious exemptions available upon request.
• Undergoing respirator and fit testing for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet-producing procedures, or caustic chemicals.
• Implementing DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibiting behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum communication skills including fluency in oral and written English.
• Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations.
• Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
• Analytical skills for selecting the best diagnostic tools and analyzing results to identify an accurate diagnosis while developing an effective treatment plan.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Communication skills for explaining diagnoses, test results, and available treatments in terms clients and their families can understand.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
• At least 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Current Oklahoma state licensure.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR and AED certification required; may have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain.
• For positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

This is a “Safety-Sensitive” position as defined by Oklahoma law. Applicants cannot test positive in pre-employment drug tests (or any drug tests administered after employment begins) for the presence of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), even if the applicant holds a valid medical marijuana card.
