Physical Therapist (PT) - Outpatient and NICU

About the role

The Physical Therapist (PT) will provide outpatient and NICU care. The position is 50% outpatient and 50% in Acute Rehabilitation: NICU. The schedule is 10-hour days Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Interprets physician referrals and completes evaluations using appropriate methods.
• Establishes and implements individual treatment plans based on evaluations and functional goals.
• Makes adjustments to treatment plans based on patient responses and communicates with physicians and other team members.
• Plans patient discharge, including providing written home programs, patient/family teaching, and referrals for community services.
• Completes required documentation, maintains records, and ensures compliance with insurance guidelines.
• Cleans up after patient treatment, organizes equipment, and maintains a tidy work area.
• Performs various manual techniques, patient positioning, transferring, and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of modalities, exercise equipment, and other devices.
• Promotes patient safety by participating in safety initiatives and following safety and infection control protocols.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and manages assigned caseload.
• Pursues professional growth through continuing education and participates in the evaluation process of colleagues.
• Supervises physical therapy assistants and extendsers, ensuring adherence to state and local compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school.
• Licensed Physical Therapist in the state where employed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior experience required.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to complete competency assessments and meet site standards.
• Knowledge of growth and development principles and ability to assess patient status.
• Functional use of senses for effective communication.
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
