Physical Therapist - Per Diem

About the role

Select Specialty Hospital - Dallas Downtown (Desoto) is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronically ill patients. Physical Therapists (PT) are integral in offering compassionate, high-quality care throughout the recovery process.

Responsibilities

• Performing initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
• Promoting continuous quality improvement.
• Teaching and counseling patients and families.
• Setting goals and developing treatment plans.
• Working cooperatively to identify and solve patient-specific and facility-wide needs.
• Participating in discharge planning, including patient/family education and adaptive equipment placement.
• Supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and PT/PTA students.
• Conducting individual patient therapy regimens.
• Maintaining patient records and documenting treatment sessions accurately.
• Participating in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education activities.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
• Certified BLS or completion within the first 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Experience in acute care settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Skills

• Effective communication and teaching skills.
• Proficiency in using medical software and documentation systems.
• Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques and protocols.
