About the Role
The Physical Therapist confirms and interprets physician referrals, performs patient assessments, and plans and implements individualized treatment programs. These programs take into account the patient’s developmental and/or chronological age and medical diagnoses in accordance with the regulations governing the principles and practice of Physical Therapy.
Provides patient care based upon physician referral and age-appropriate assessment, considering the patient’s developmental/chronological age and medical diagnoses when planning and implementing treatment programs designed to achieve goals set in conjunction with the patient and/or family member.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through written and/or verbal communication with patients, families, therapists, Clinical Team Leaders, managers, physicians, and other members of the health care team.
- Documents in the patient’s medical record and completes other patient care-related forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and department/hospital policies and procedures.
- Supervises PTAs and collaborates with other therapy staff, support staff, volunteers, and students to achieve efficient clinical activity and quality patient care.
- Supervises Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) as provided by State of Virginia licensure/practice standards and Federal regulations. Orients new employees and may provide guidance to volunteers, students, support, or contract staff.
- Participates in other patient care and departmental/professional activities as requested/assigned, including but not limited to presenting/attending in-services, performance improvement, program development/evaluation, new employee orientation, committee membership, peer review, and attending staff meetings.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy program required.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy with 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), required.
- No experience required with a Master's degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy must have 5 years of experience.
- For Home Health positions, 1 year of clinical experience is required.
- Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and teamwork skills required.
Pay
Compensation Range: $39.00 - $62.40 per hour. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
