Physical Therapist - Inpatient Float

What You'll Do

  • Review therapy requisitions and evaluate patients' physical condition and needs.
  • Develop treatment plans including therapeutic exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, modalities, and functional training.
  • Instruct patients in proper use of mobility aids, braces, prosthetics, and equipment.
  • Reassess and modify treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical judgment.
  • Communicate with physicians and team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide guidance to rehab support staff assisting with patient care.
  • Maintain safety standards, equipment, and infection control procedures.
  • Assist with departmental quality initiatives and committee participation.
  • Transport patients when necessary and support Senior Therapists in their absence.
  • Participate in ongoing education, trainings, and professional development.
  • Provide age‑appropriate care to patients across all age groups.

Education & Licensure

  • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Physical Therapist in New York State.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Experience

  • Hospital/acute care experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Moderate to significant physical effort including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.

Infection Control

  • Follow all universal precautions during patient care.
