What You'll Do
- Review therapy requisitions and evaluate patients' physical condition and needs.
- Develop treatment plans including therapeutic exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, modalities, and functional training.
- Instruct patients in proper use of mobility aids, braces, prosthetics, and equipment.
- Reassess and modify treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical judgment.
- Communicate with physicians and team members to coordinate patient care.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Provide guidance to rehab support staff assisting with patient care.
- Maintain safety standards, equipment, and infection control procedures.
- Assist with departmental quality initiatives and committee participation.
- Transport patients when necessary and support Senior Therapists in their absence.
- Participate in ongoing education, trainings, and professional development.
- Provide age‑appropriate care to patients across all age groups.
Education & Licensure
- Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Physical Therapist in New York State.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire.
Experience
- Hospital/acute care experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Moderate to significant physical effort including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
Infection Control
- Follow all universal precautions during patient care.
