The Rehabilitation Services department plays a vital part in this initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide 100% patient care, including interpretation of referrals and provision of Physical Therapy services.
• Perform screenings, specialized assessments, and treatments on complex patients (inpatients and outpatients) with multiple medical diagnoses.
• Gather, interpret, and summarize medical, evaluation, and treatment information from various sources into appropriate patient documentation according to department policies.
• Make developmental and/or age-appropriate modifications in observation, evaluation, and treatment methods/activities for patients with difficult circumstances and multiple diagnoses.
• Orient, provide oversight, supervise, and train PTAs, junior staff, and students.
• Utilize appropriate handling, transferring, positioning, body mechanics, and treatment techniques while treating a wide variety of patients.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and non-verbal) when interacting with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Take responsibility for workflow and assignments in various clinical areas, providing coverage when other staff members are absent.
• Assume extra responsibilities for areas such as safety, quality improvement, BSIS, infection control, orderliness, protocols, clinical equipment standards, and competencies.
• Accurately record and maintain clinical records, patient billing, statistics, and schedules.
• Demonstrate effective use of functional activities during PT evaluation and treatment.
• Be flexible and take initiative when dealing with unexpected occurrences such as staff absences and fluctuating workloads.
• Represent the department on special assignments/tasks.
• Maintain an appropriate patient volume and productivity record.
• Communicate with supervisor regarding activities, progress, and problems.
• Positively support and participate in department professional activities.
• Demonstrate, problem-solve, and consult on professional therapy skills with other staff, providing rationale for these processes.
• Attend and contribute to interdisciplinary, hospital, and departmental meetings.
• Comply with all department, hospital, and regulatory agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Assist with durable medical equipment, stocking, inventory, and ordering of supplies based on departmental and patient needs.
• Maintain a tidy, organized, presentable, and clean work area and facility.

Requirements

• Current Illinois Physical Therapist license or eligibility to sit for the state board exam with a confirmation letter (proof required at time of interview).
• Current CPR certification (proof required at time of interview).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior pediatric experience.
• Prior outpatient experience.

Physical and Environmental Demands

This position functions within a healthcare environment. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to all hospital and department-specific safety requirements, including but not limited to:

• Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Hand washing and sanitizing practices.
• Compliance with department-specific engineering and work practice controls.
• Any other work area safety precautions specified by hospital-wide policy and departmental procedures.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $48.769 to $57.396. Salary is commensurate with years of experience indicated at the time of application submission. Experience not disclosed or documented at the time of application will not be considered for initial step placement.
