Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 19, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

• Administers physical therapy treatments and active, passive, restorative, and resistive therapeutic treatment to patients in a correctional facility under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and the direct administrative supervision of the Chief Support Executive or Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF).
• Interprets to patients the significance of physical therapy services.
• Complies with all the applicable State and federal laws and regulations and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to the physical therapy program.
• Maintains order and supervises the conduct of the incarcerated and maintains the safety of persons and property and the security of working areas and work materials.

Qualifications

The Physical Therapist I, CF must possess a current license to practice physical therapy issued by the California Board of Physical Therapy.

Must have a minimum of one year of experience in physical therapy in a correctional facility setting.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.

Must have completed a physical therapy residency program approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Benefits

The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $1,713.00- $2,541.60.

Under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and the direct administrative supervision of the Chief Support Executive or Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Physical Therapist I, CF administers physical therapy treatments and active, passive, restorative, and resistive therapeutic treatment to patients in a correctional facility.
